The Difference Between Wire Cutting Fluid and Cutting Fluid

The Difference Between Wire Cutting Fluid and Cutting Fluid

The meanings of wire cutting fluid and cutting fluid:

The difference between wire cutting fluid and cutting fluid

Although cutting fluid and wire cutting fluid may sound like the same type, there are actually some differences between them.

1.The two have different purposes. Cutting fluids can be classified into cutting oil and water-soluble cutting fluid. They are mainly used for cutting, grinding, processing, etc. of metals. While wire cutting fluid is mainly used in some CNC wire cutting machine tools. The functions of the two are different. One of the main performance indicators of wire cutting fluid is dielectric property. While ensuring discharge processing, appropriately improving the dielectric property can reduce the loss of pulse energy during dielectric breakdown, and it has good functions of moistening, cleaning and chip removal. While general cooling fluids only have the functions of cooling, lubrication and rust prevention.

2.The components are different. Cutting fluids are classified as oil-based and water-based. Oil-based cutting fluids consist of base mineral oil and additives, while water-based cutting fluids are further divided into those containing oil and those without oil. Among them, fully synthetic cutting fluids do not contain mineral oil and are composed of water-soluble additives.

The work fluid for wire cutting is also classified as water-based, oil-based, and emulsified oil. Compared to oil-based wire cutting fluids, water-based wire cutting fluids have the advantages of higher efficiency, cleaner and more environmentally friendly, and less likely to stink.

Can wire cutting fluid be used as a cutting fluid?

From the above, it can be seen that the uses of cutting fluid and wire cutting fluid are different, and the roles they play in the work are also quite distinct. However, it can be observed that wire cutting fluid can be used as a cutting fluid, but cutting fluid cannot be used as wire cutting fluid.

Maintenance and purification of wire cutting fluid:

When changing the liquid, the water tank, workbench and pipelines should be thoroughly and completely cleaned, especially the dead corners of the water tank and the pipelines, pump valves and filter screens. In addition, for factories with a large number of machines, the impurities in the wire-cutting liquid can also be efficiently removed through the centralized liquid supply and return system of the pipelines, and continuous cutting should always be adopted to ensure the best performance.
